Renate Blauel, Elton John’s ex-wife, wants money for broken terms of their divorce deal.
Elton John’s ex-wife, Renate Blauel, is demanding a £3 million (R63 million) payout, claiming the singer broke the terms of their divorce settlement.
Renate (67) and Elton (73) were married for four years from 1984 to 1988, Independent reports.
Now 32 years later, she’s suing the Candle in the Wind singer for writing about her in his autobiography Me, which was released last year.

Renate claims that comments in the book broke the terms of their divorce agreement set out during their split back then.
In addition, she alleges that it triggered long-standing mental health issues, despite the comments in the book being entirely positive.
Renate filed documents to the high court in London this week which outlined her case, according to The Sun.
In the documents, claims are made that Elton had agreed to remove parts of his autobiography before it was published.
A source close to Elton says the pair had an amicable relationship, and the book contains nothing that isn’t already in the public domain.

“Elton is shocked and saddened by Renate’s claim, especially as he’s only ever praised her publicly,” the source says.
“He’s always had a very pleasant relationship with Renate, respects her enormously and would never have said anything revealing about their marriage,” another added.
The pair met while working on his 1983 album, Too Low for Zero, the DailyMail reports.
In 2005 Elton entered a civil partnership with David Furnish and in 2014 the couple got married following the legalisation of same-sex marriage in England.
