World, meet baby Lucia – the latest addition to Alec and Hilaria Baldwin’s ever-expanding brood of babes.

Hilaria took to Instagram to reveal the name of her newborn daughter alongside an adorable snapshot of the baby girl fast asleep.

"We are so in love with our daughter, Lucia," she said. "Just like your brothers and sisters, you are a dream come true."

The announcement of the latest Baldwin child's name comes one day after she surprised her followers with a photo of herself surrounded by all her kids, including a tiny baby on her lap.

The photo had fans doing a double take as the couple welcomed son Eduardo only in September.

The timeline of baby Lucia’s birth has been a major talking point. Was she adopted? Did Hilaria and Alec use a surrogate?

When pressed for further details, their representative insisted: “We’re still not issuing a statement or confirming anything – what she posted stands.”

Eagle-eyed fans on social media noticed that Hilaria follows a New York surrogacy agency called Alcea Surrogacy on Instagram.

Coincidentally, the company congratulated one of their “IPs” (intended parents) in a now-deleted post on the “amazing birth of their daughter” just days before Alec and Hilaria shared the first pic of baby Lucia.

Although the Baldwins are keeping quiet on sharing how their littlest “Baldwinito”, as they call their kids, came into this world, they’re hardly keeping a low profile. Alec has been vocal on social media and is not standing for criticism regarding his wife or their big brood.

The 30 Rock star shared the same photo of Hilaria and the six children on Monday with the caption, "Mi vida," which means "My life" in Spanish – but not everyone rushed to congratulate him.

"Who's the mother? She wasn't pregnant. She gave birth six months ago," one commenter wrote. "If it was a surrogate just say that. If the baby was adopted just say that. If the baby was a product of an affair and you've decided to raise it with your wife just say that."

"You should shut the f*** up and mind your own business," 62-year-old Alec hit back.

Another poster came to the family's defence, writing, "Wish I knew why people [are] so mean."

"Because basically, they're not very smart," Alec wrote.

"Americans are people who know less about how to live a peaceful, healthy life than most of the civilised world."

Alec has been leaping to his 37-year-old wife’s defence on social media in recent months.

Earlier this year the author made headlines when she was accused of pretending to be Spanish even though she was born in Boston in the US.

In December, videos emerged showing Hilaria speaking with different accents – sometimes Spanish, sometimes American – and tweets claimed she used to go by the name Hillary.

She addressed the controversy on social media and later apologised for not being clearer.

Hilaria claimed that she’s always been honest about being steeped in two cultures and reiterated she was raised with both American and Spanish cultures and feels "a true sense of belonging to both”.

Alec has supported her unconditionally, and sources close to the couple say he doesn’t understand why Hilaria has become a target for online “harassment and hate”.

The actor never misses an opportunity to tell the world his wife is the most amazing woman he’s ever known.

“I’m so lucky to have her,” he gushed in a previous interview. “I’m lucky to make a living and be able to support my family because we want to show our kids the world. Our kids are pretty magical.”

The couple’s unlikely romance kicked off when he spotted her across the room at a New York restaurant eight years ago and was instantly smitten.

“I was so in love. Here was somebody who I thought, ‘I am intrigued by, I am fed by, I am buoyed by.’ There were a lot of other guys she could have married who were age-appropriate.”

But Alec was the one for her.

By November of that year they’d moved in together and they tied the knot the following June when Hilaria was 27 and Alec 53. She wanted to wait a while before having kids and settle into marriage first.

“But then five months into our marriage I found out I was pregnant with Carmen and of course, I was really excited to be a mom. It was one of those things where it kind of crept up on me a bit.”

And the kids just kept coming.

“I was breastfeeding when I found out I was pregnant with Rafa, and the same happened with Leo."

“The kids kinda crept up on us,” Alec admits.

There has been heartache along the way too. Hilaria had two miscarriages last year – one at around 10 weeks and the other at four months – so the birth of little Edu was extra special, a bundle of joy after the sadness. Now Lucia has joined the clan too.

Alec, who has daughter Ireland (25) with ex-wife Kim Bassinger, has also been vocal about the downside of growing his brood so late in his life.

“There are drawbacks to my kids, me being this age. But there are benefits, too. I’m there. I’ve made them a priority. It’s made me much more mindful: ‘How do I make the most of my time with them?’”

“I wish I had 10 extra years. I wish I was 50. But, you know, life. There is no pause button. There is no reverse button.”
