Fans have been left concerned by Britney Spears' behaviour, which has become increasingly erratic in the wake of the news that her third marriage has now imploded.

On Wednesday her husband of 14 months, Sam Asghari (29), filed for divorce citing “irreconcilable differences”, listing 28 July 2023 as the date of separation.

His filing comes amidst allegations that the 41-year-old Toxic singer has been unfaithful.

The Iranian-American personal trainer and actor apparently confronted his wife about rumours she had cheated on him, which led to a “nuclear argument” and him moving out.

In what is gearing up to be a messy divorce, Sam has since threatened to go public with “embarrassing revelations” about Britney if she refuses to renegotiate their prenup agreement.

He also wants spousal support and for Britney to cover his legal fees.

The Grammy-winning pop star, who married Sam in a star-studded ceremony at her home in June last year, has yet to publicly comment.

However, according to insiders, their marriage has been “toxic” for months.

In the midst of all this Britney's social media posts have sparked concern about her mental health. She has previously been accused of being on drugs and abusing medication to treat her depression and bi-polar disorder.

Last week she raised eyebrows with her raunchy performance on a newly purchased stripper pole.

In the post, which has since been deleted, she can be seen writhing around the pole dressed in a skimpy leopard-print bikini as Nine Inch Nails’ X-rated song, Closer, plays in the background with its famous chorus “I wanna f*** you like an animal” blasting forth.

After news of the divorce emerged, she broke her silence with another bizarre Instagram post – this time about vowing to buy a horse. She accompanied it with a photo of her sitting astride a horse in a bikini top and shorts.

“Buying a horse soon!!! So many options it’s kinda hard!! A horse called Sophie and another called Roar?? I can’t make up my mind!! Should I join the camaraderie and put a pink cowboy hat on??? Either way I think I found my sweet spot with Roar,” she captioned the snap.

Britney meanwhile has hired top celebrity divorce attorney Laura Wasser, whose clients include Kim Kardashian, Kevin Costner and Johnny Depp, to protect her assets. She used Wasser in her 2008 divorce from hubby No 2, Kevin Federline (45), the father of her two sons, Jayden (16) and Sean (17).

Asghari, who moved into his own place before filing for divorce, is reportedly focused on “attempting to negotiate concessions beyond his prenup and threatening to go public with extraordinarily embarrassing information about Britney unless he gets paid.”

Britney, whose 12-year conservatorship led by her father, Jamie, ended in 2021, essentially now has no support system.

Insiders say she’s estranged from most of her family including her sons, who have moved to Hawaii with their father (they have since been confirmed as safe since the wildfires ravaged large parts of the island).

Recent reports stated Britney had reconciled with her mother Lynne, who was seen visiting her daughter in May, however, sources say the relationship has soured again.

Meanwhile, major TV networks and online streaming platforms are reportedly offering big money to secure a sit-down TV interview with Britney in the run-up to the release of her memoir, Britney Spears: The Woman in Me, in October.

Leading the pack is Oprah Winfrey, who first reached out to the singer after she was released from her 13-year conservatorship in 2021, but was turned down.

At the time, a source said she wasn't ready as she was “still coming to terms with independent life and mentally processing her freedom”.

While she's “in a different place now”, another insider says, she's still hesitant to agree to a tell-all TV interview.

“The trauma didn't go away overnight just because the conservatorship ended. Some days can be extremely testing and conversations can trigger her to behave unusually or even erratically," the insider said.

“Certainly, putting a TV lens on her could be problematic, and it means that a proper news-style interview is out of the question. However, a more feature-style interview, allowing her and the team to have control, is an option."

Speaking to Oprah, or someone like her, would be her strongest play, the source added, “but the reality is managing Britney’s mental well-being and health in the process”.
