Lionel Richie says he is “thrilled” that his youngest daughter, Sofia Richie Grainge, is about to become a mom, but he has one demand when it comes to his future grandchild.
“I’m Pop-Pop. We don’t get the ‘grandpa', yeah, that’s a little deep. Pop-Pop is where we're going,” the 74-year-old music legend told Entertainment Tonight.

His comments came after Sofia (25) revealed that she and her husband of one year, record label owner Elliot Grainge (30), are going to be expecting.
The model and social media personality announced the news in a hilarious gender reveal video.

In the vid she can be seen counting down as her husband stands nearby with a confetti popper, which releases pink confetti and smoke.
Shocked by the discovery that she’s having a girl, Sofia screams at the top of her lungs while running around her yard.

“Sorry to all my neighbours for the horrifying scream!” she wrote in her caption.
In an interview with Vogue, she admitted they thought she was having a boy. “So it was a true shock.”
Lionel – who can currently be seen in the Netflix doccie, The Greatest Night in Pop – has also told his daughter and son-in-law they can name their child anything, just “not Lionella”.
“I’m gonna leave that to the parents. I’m just gonna be that loving Pop-Pop that comes in the door and spoils the child,” he told E! News.
He reckons the pair are going to be great parents. “Sofia is going to be fantastic. These are two loving parents and I don’t think they really know what’s coming. So no matter what advice I give them there’s no manual for this. They’ll figure it out.”
