The singer revealed last year that she stayed blonde for so long because of her godmother, Dolly Parton, who has always sported the hair colour.

Appearing on the TV show TODAY, she told host Hoda Kotb that the country music icon was horrified when Miley told her that she was toying with the idea of going back to her natural roots.

“I’ve never seen Dolly actually scared before,” the Used to Be Young singer said.

She added that Dolly (77) “clutched her pearls, gasped” and told her, “You can’t do that. You are me.”
