You'd expect their home to be kitted with the latest trends and luxury designs. After all, Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell are one of Hollywood's wealthiest couples.

Yet Goldie refuses to update her home. Her son, Oliver Hudson, says she lives in a time-capsule with cosy but dated décor.

During a recent appearance on Live with Kelly and Ryan, Oliver showed off a section of the decades-old home of his mom and her partner, Kurt Russell.

“Those curtains that you see are like 30 years old,” Oliver quipped.

“Mom refuses to update, which kind of is great.”

The 45-year-old actor says the house, situated in Aspen, Colorado, holds a special place in his heart because it’s where he and younger sister Kate Hudson (42) made their best childhood memories.

“Mom built this house first and then my stepdad, Kurt, built the other house,” Oliver says.

“So we lived here in 1985 for two years.”

Oliver attended primary school in the town that's known for its skiing opportunities in winter. He says he loved it so much he wanted to give his kids Bodhi (11), Wilder (14), and Rio (8) the same experience.

“I actually took my kids out of school five years ago in LA and took them up here to live in the mountains and have some independence and some freedom,” he says.

“It’s a really special place, for sure.”

Growing up, Oliver says he most enjoyed snow days.

“On Wednesdays they let everyone off early so they could go ski,” he recalls. “The school system is so different.”

During the recent holidays, Goldie, Kurt and Oliver were also joined by Kate, her fiancé, Danny Fujikawa (35), and the couple’s three-year-old daughter, Rani Rose.

Goldie (76) and Kurt (70) have been together for more than 38 years without ever tying the knot.

The Oscar-winning veteran actress has said in the past that their decision not to marry stems from a sense of independence.

“Marriage is an interesting psychological thing,” Goldie says. “If you need to feel bound to someone, then it’s important to be married.

"If you have independence, if you have enough money and enough sense of independence and you like your independence, there’s something psychological about not being married," she adds.

“I chose to stay, Kurt chose to stay, and we like the choice.”
