Cher is finally setting the record straight.
The 77-year-old singer has denied allegations that she hired four men to kidnap her son, Elijah Blue Allman, last year.
"That rumour is not true," Cher told People.
Cher refused to make further comments, but confirmed that the incident was related to Elijah's addiction issues.
“I’m a mother. This is my job — one way or another, to try to help my children. You do anything for your children. Whenever you can help them, you just do it because that’s what being a mother is. But it’s joy, even with heartache — mostly, when you think of your children, you just smile and you love them, and you try to be there for them,” she said.
Last month Cher was dragged into Elijah's divorce drama after his estranged wife says the pop star had him kidnapped late last year.
Marieangela King (36) made the shocking accusation in newly surfaced court papers.
She says the kidnapping happened when she and Elijah (47) spent 12 days together in New York in a bid to work on their marriage.

Recalling the incident, which took place on 30 November 2022 on their wedding anniversary, she says four men came into their hotel room and “removed” Elijah. She says one of them told her his mother had hired them.
After that she says she was “unaware of my husband’s wellbeing or whereabouts”.
The pair married in 2013 and separated in 2020. Elijah filed for divorce a year later.
In a declaration to a Los Angeles court on their divorce, Marieangela, a British singer in the rock band KING, said Cher arranged the kidnapping out of concern for her son’s well-being and Marieangela holds no grudges.
Elijah has a long history of substance abuse, particularly heroin, and did a stint in rehab in August last year. But he appears to have relapsed since then.

For the past six months he's been living at the Chateau Marmont hotel in Los Angeles where staff described him as looking “drugged out” and “living like a homeless person”.
Things came to a head when staff found him passed out outside the hotel last month. This despite Cher hiring a carer after he'd taken to wandering the streets.
Elijah is the only child from Cher’s brief marriage to the late Gregg Allman. The Turn Back Time hitmaker wed the musician just a few days after her divorce from Sonny Bono in 1975. But she filed for divorce just nine days later.
Cher says for as long as she's around she will continue to do her best for her son. "I could fill a I don’t even know, something gigantic with what I don’t know [about parenting]. [But] I just keep trying.”
