Romeo Beckham is ready to follow in his elder brother’s footsteps.
The 19-year-old reportedly has his sights set on walking down the aisle with his girlfriend, Mia Regan, in the not-so-distant future.
A source reveals that Romeo has wanted to pop the question to the 19-year-old model for a while but didn’t want to steal the spotlight from Brooklyn. The eldest of the Beckham brood married Nicola Peltz (27) in a lavish ceremony costing more than R50 million earlier this month at the Peltz family's sprawling estate in Palm Beach, Florida.
But having served as best man to his big brother, Romeo now has his heart set on being a groom, insiders say.
“Romeo always wanted to wait for Brooklyn to wed and avoided doing anything that could take the limelight from his brother,” a source says.
“Mia is a very different woman to Nicola Peltz and has always said she'd like to marry in Britain, making for a far more casual and low-key wedding to the one Nicola and Brooklyn had.”
While most parents wouldn't be wild about the idea of their children getting married at such a young age, Victoria (48) is reportedly encouraging the engagement and has already started planning the wedding. Posh is said to be driven by her desire to boost Brand Beckham.
“She was so impressed with the way Brooklyn and Nicola pulled off their big day without a hitch and got the whole world talking about the Beckham name again,” a source in the family’s inner circle says.
“It was a wonderful day full of love and fun for the family and really bolstered their brand, and she wants to keep that momentum going with help from Romeo and his girlfriend, Mia.”
Romeo, who plays soccer for Inter Miami FC, started dating Mia in May 2019 but they didn’t make their romance public until four months later.
They made their red-carpet debut as a couple at the 2021 British Fashion Awards.
Mia, who's signed to top British agency Storm Models, seems to have a close relationship with Posh. She modelled pieces from Posh’s fashion house, VB, when they collaborated with sports brand Reebok. Mia also sought fashion advice from her when she stepped out on the red carpet for the first time with Romeo.
“Even just talking about what I’m wearing with her, what nails and make-up I’m going to go for . . . it’s nice to have that figure,” Mia told British Vogue at the time.
When Posh and Becks married in 1999, she was 26 and he was just 24. They tied the knot four months after Brooklyn's birth.
“Marrying quickly and young seems to be in the Beckham tradition,” the insider says.
And it seems, like his parents, Romeo is also keen to welcome kids as soon as possible.
“They also talked about how much they want a big family and can’t wait to get started. They're besotted with each other and are definitely in it for life," the insider says.
