Seal is not holding back when it comes to how he views his famous ex in the parenting department.

The Kiss From A Rose singer says he’s “never had teamwork” with German former supermodel Heidi Klum when it comes to co-parenting their four kids, Leni (17), Henry (15), Johan (14), and Lou (11).

“It can be challenging. It requires teamwork. If you are a team, if both parents are a team, then it's really easy and that's not a real challenge at all. But you have to be a team. And if you're not, then it can all fall to pieces,” the 58-year-old told Us Weekly, adding that he and Heidi (47) didn’t have that bond.

The two split in 2012 after 10 years together and finalised their divorce in 2014.

Last year they made headlines when Heidi – who is now married to German musician Tom Kaulitz – claimed Seal refused to let her take their kids with her to Germany where she was filming Germany’s Next Top Model.

He claimed at the time he was worried they’d be exposed to Covid-19 and may be kept in the country if borders closed.

Heidi filed for an emergency court hearing to get permission and the pair eventually reached an agreement: she could take the kids and Seal could get “expanded time” with them before and after they went.

At the time of the court hearing, daughter Leni – whose biological father is Italian businessman and F1 manager Flavio Briatore, but who Seal adopted – also submitted a declaration on behalf of herself and her siblings.

“This is hard because I love both of my parents,” she wrote, “but I feel like I need to speak up. My mom needs to film in Germany for a few months and my siblings and I want to go with her. So far, my dad isn’t allowing us to go, though we have tried to tell him our reasons why we want to.”

She went on to say going to Europe would be an “amazing opportunity” and would allow her and her siblings to see their grandparents.

Seal also added that he wasn’t happy about Leni’s blossoming modelling career, which saw her landing her first solo magazine cover on Glamour Germany earlier this year, 20 years after her mom did.

It wouldn’t have been his first choice of career for her, he says, because “it seldom ends in happiness”.

“That’s a precarious road to take.”

He also added his children weren’t all that impressed by his career. “We never really talk about my music after all,” he said.

Seems a dad is just a dad, whether you’re a hot-shot singer or not.
