It’s his first interview in six years and Zayn Malik has his daughter to thank for it.
The former One Direction singer, who's kept a very low profile in recent years, gave some insight into his journey as a first-time father in an interview on the Call Her Daddy podcast.
The 30-year-old said that Khai, his two-year-old daughter with ex-girlfriend and model Gigi Hadid, “brought colour back to my life”.

“Since I’ve had my daughter, the main thing in my life is trying to be a good example to her. That’s why I’m even doing this interview. I used to get a lot of anxiety around having a conversation like this, but I want her to be able to look at me and say, ‘My dad’s doing this’.”
Zayn has previously spoken about his mental-health battles with anxiety and depression.
While he prefers to keep a low profile and often takes long breaks from social media, he recently shared a sweet photo, taken by his daughter, showing him watering seedlings on his farm in Pennsylvania.
“Baba farmer, courtesy of Khai. Great photography,” he captioned the snap.
Zayn bought the property in 2018 to escape the pressures of the spotlight and to grow his own crops.
This year, however, will see his return to making music. He recently teased fans on Instagram with an eight-second video clip for a new track titled Love Like This.
It'll be his first new music since his 2021 album Nobody Is Listening – and his third studio release as a solo artist.
His new music will be a big departure from his previous hit, Pillowtalk, and his Taylor Swift collab, I Don’t Wanna Live Forever, Billboard reports.
Zayn also spoke about One Direction during the podcast, and said he'd battled with the boy band’s massive fame, which led to parting ways with the group in 2015 after five successful years.
“I feel like we were so overexposed – that's why I've taken the time away to not do interviews.”

He also said he'd been told that he would be the “mysterious” one in the band.
“They just said to me, 'Oh you can be the mysterious one', but that wasn’t necessarily my personality. I’m just chill. Some people have very high energy personalities, and it’s just not the way I am.”
