There is no shortage of makeup tutorials online, but Paloma Lopez’s Instagram videos are a little – well, a lot different – than most.

Every day we come across stories of inspirational human beings who make us believe almost anything is possible. Paloma (20) is a self-taught makeup artist from Argentina, who had legs and arms amputated due to an illness at the age of two, but she’s had social media abuzz after sharing her makeup tutorials.

With poise and focus she applies makeup on herself using only her stumps, often creating intricate and delicate designs in her videos.

Paloma, who wears prosthetic legs, began posting more of her videos during the Covid-19 pandemic.

But it’s not all eyeshadow and glitter. She wants to use her platform to motivate people to always go after their dreams, even if they seem crazy or scary.

“One day I tried uploading a video of my makeup tutorial and it had a good impact. So I continued. Now I want to encourage others to do what they don't dare to do,” Paloma said.

It is not clear what illness led to her losing her limbs, but it has not stopped her from doing the same things other young people enjoy.

Paloma says despite her disability, she counts herself lucky. In a recent interview on Ruptly TV, she said, “I am studying, and I exercise, I swim, I surf, I put on makeup and I am making my tutorials, which has been a big success.”

She adds she has learnt that whatever your obstacles, you can do anything you set your mind to, and her passion for makeup and determination to master this skill, something with which many women struggle, has left her followers in awe.

“Wow wow wowwww ????????,” one commented on one of her videos.

“Pretty eye makeup ??,” another said.

Paloma says she challenges herself by watching tutorials and practising her makeup every day. “Whatever the difficulty, I believe everyone can do makeup.”
