Is it shallow to have reservations about asking your best friend to be your maid of honour because you’re worried she might spoil your wedding pics? The answer is a resounding yes.

A bride learnt this the hard way after her insensitive question posted on Facebook, asking if she was wrong to have reservations about choosing her friend for the role because of her “bad teeth”, sparked a viral backlash.

According to the post, the anonymous bride was worried about how the photos would look on her big day.

“I’m really not trying to catch heat for this, but I need opinions,” she wrote online. “My childhood best friend and I always talked about being in each other’s weddings growing up.

“I’m choosing my bridesmaid and really want to ask her to be my MOH (maid of honour).

“My dilemma... I haven’t visually seen her in a while, but yesterday saw a video of her and sometime recently she developed a large cavity in her front teeth.

“Am I shallow for worrying how the photos will look on the big day?”

The bride claims she adores her friend but just doesn’t want to look back on the pictures and “have that in there”.

“I don’t know what to do and don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings!” she continued. “My fiancé is concerned too. Do I ask her and hope it isn’t noticed? Do I not ask her and risk the friendship? SOS.”

A screenshot of the post was shared on Wedding Shaming, a thread on Reddit, and users let the bride have it.

“Holy hell, it is amazing how many people forget what the wedding is actually for, to get married for the rest of your life,” one person commented.

“I don’t give a f*** what my friends look like at my wedding. I just want them to be happy and have a good time and celebrate with me no matter what. This is awful,” another wrote.

Another suggested Photoshop.

While another voiced concern for the friend.

“I'm more concerned that the friend is walking around with a visibly rotting tooth,”

Recently, another bride was branded as heartless for planning to replace her cancer-stricken maid of honour because she apparently offered up too little help with wedding duties.

The bride-to-be vented her frustration at her friend’s lack of effort in planning her bachelorette party or helping with picking a gown.

The selfish admission triggered a furious response.

“'I think this is the grossest thing I've ever seen on this page. For reals. How selfish,” one woman said.

“You shouldn't ask people to be in your wedding so they can do stuff for you and plan parties for you. You ask them to be in your wedding because you want them by your side on the moment important day of your life,” another added.

“She’s got cancer and all the bride has done is make it about herself!” another concluded.
