Lockdown meant that for two whole months they didn’t get to see each other – and when you’re three years old, two months is a long time.

So when best buddies Legend and Caius were finally reunited they couldn’t contain their delight, wrapping each other in a giant bear hug, a hug the internet can’t get enough of.

The two little boys from Georgia in the US had been inseparable since they were five months old and would see each other daily at preschool, then going to each other on playdates whenever they could after Legend went to another school.

Then the pandemic struck happened and the fun ended. Until now!

“This is the reaction of two best friends seeing each other after 2 months... They’ll both be 4 next month,” Legend’s mom Iesha Stephens captioned the video of the BFFs’ reunion on Twitter.

In the 10-second clip, Legend, who’s wearing a grey hoodie, is seen walking towards Caius. Then the boys embrace each other fiercely, unable to contain their delight.

“I haven’t seen you in a while,” says Caius to his buddy.

“Pleaseeeeee keep them together no matter what,” one user commented.

“Thank you for posting these pictures and telling us your stories – they are heartwarming and beautiful,” another said.

The post has amassed more than 300 000 likes and 40 000 retweets.

Iesha has since started an Instagram page for Legend where she shares more pictures of his friendship with Caius.

They aren’t the first tots to have delighted people when they met up after a spell apart. In 2019, two-year-old besties Max and Finnegan delighted the internet with their cute reunion captured in the streets of New York.

The pair were captured running down a pavement towards each other then warmly embracing.

Here’s a look back at the moment that melted hearts around the world:
