This man proposed to his daughter’s ex-boyfriend – and the pair are now expecting their first child together!

Barrie Drewitt-Barlow from Manchester in the UK recently went down on one knee to propose to Scott Hutchison. The 25-year-old had previously dated Barrie’s daughter, Saffron, for a few months before falling in love with the 50-year-old, Lad Bible reports.

An overjoyed Barrie took to Instagram to share a video of the special moment, which took place on a yacht during a family vacation on the island of Hvar in Croatia.

“Guess what happened last night,” Barrie, who now lives in Florida, captioned his post.

In the adorable video, the father-of-three shows their yacht decorated with rose petals and candles. A bottle of champagne is on a table, which has the ring as the centrepiece.

When asked by followers if they had become engaged, Scott replied: “Yes, last night”.

Barrie, who owns a surrogacy agency and a global medical research company, then posted a picture of him posing with Saffron and his fiancé.

“My everything,” he said.

And if you think Saffron is bothered by her father hooking up with her ex, think again. The 20-year-old took to Instagram to publicly show her support for their romance.

“Scott is one of my best mates and I am happy that he and Daddy can finally feel comfortable enough to talk about their relationship,” Saffron wrote.

The multimillionaire and Scott are also expecting their first child together via surrogate. The baby is due in late October.

“I am overjoyed to share the news that Scott and I are pregnant,” Barrie told The Sun. “We are using a surrogate and she’s fallen pregnant at the first attempt.”

“Our surrogate, Marie, is a lady from San Francisco we have worked with previously for our agency, the British Surrogacy Centre.

“This will be her last surrogacy and she wanted to do it for Scott and me.”

In 1999, Barrie and his former partner, Tony Drewitt-Barlow, became the first gay men to be formally registered as parents in the UK. The pair’s surrogate gave birth to twins Aspen and Saffron.

Barrie and Tony tied the knot in 2014 and went on to have three more children together.

Despite ending their 32-year marriage last year, the two still live together in their 10-bedroom mansion worth $7,8 million (around R135 million) with their three kids and Scott.

Proving that their one happy family, Barrie also revealed that Tony will be the baby’s godfather.

"We are thrilled we are going to become daddies again. Tony is excited too, although it does underline that our marriage really is over after all these years, so it is very bittersweet,” Barry said.

“But we are all going to remain living under the same roof. Tony is Dad, I'm Daddy and while at the moment Scott is stepdad, soon he's going to be Daddy Two.

“We are happy, we want to co-parent our kids and that's all that matters. If people don't get it, that's their problem, not ours.”
