It's no secret some brides-to-be can turn into bridezillas when planning their big day, making things super-stressful for the bride and the people around her.

Now a fussy Australian bride has been accused of taking things too far by banning children on her wedding day.

Although 21-year-old Valentine had a long list of requests for her guests on the day, the no-kids rule caused the biggest stir.

However, she says it's not a decision she and her fiancé came to lightly.

“The main reason is that we only have 50 seats. We’re getting married in a registry, both our families are quite large and if we brought everyone’s children we’d only have 25 spare seats, which is basically our immediate family,” she explains.

The new mom, whose son is just over a week old, says she and her fiancé both contributed to the list of requests.

In a video posted online, which has racked up more than 690 000 views, she went through the seven-item list.

Among the rules is that the free bar tab will only open three hours into the ceremony.

“Our reception is starting at 2 o’clock, we really don’t want everyone to be legless and going home in a taxi before the night has even begun. We want everyone to look good in the photos, feel good and for the bar tab to last into the night as well,” Valentine says.

She's also restricting guests from using their cellphones. “I will literally stop what I’m doing – in the middle of my vows if I have to – and go tell you to put your phone away. We are paying A$3 000 (R35 200) for a photographer; take pictures with us afterwards,” she says.

And the couple’s guests are also not allowed to be accompanied by a plus one.

The request to come solo may be a harsh one, she says, but she doesn’t want to spend money catering for people she doesn’t know and prefers not to have strangers in her wedding pictures.

‘I want everyone to look like they’ve just come off the runway in Milan’

On the topic of photos, Valentine says guests must be dressed to the nines.

“I want everyone to look like they’ve just come off the runway in Milan. I want formal dresses, tuxedos, suits, ties, whatever. You have to look good in the photos. We’re not having jeans and T-shirts, my friends."

Valentine has also banned guests from making any big personal announcements at their wedding. If anyone has any big announcements, from pregnancies to engagements, they should save it for another day, she says.

“I will drag you out – not if you're pregnant, I'm not insane. But I will literally get you out. This is the one day I’ve been looking forward to since I was a little girl. This is not about you.”

If that's not enough to turn guests off, the couple has also requested that no one announces their nuptials before them.

Valentine is unapologetic about her long list of demands, though.

“Don’t go to people’s weddings if you don’t agree with their rules,” she says.

She’s not the only bride who’s received backlash for what people deem ridiculous rules.

In January, bride-to-be Jasmine Cruz, laid out her rules in a video that garnered more than 100 000 likes and nearly five million views on TikTok.

The no-kids rule was also at the top of her list.

“I don’t want kids running around unattended, their parents not watching,” Jasmine says.

“That will absolutely not be happening.”

She also gave instructions to her bridesmaids to pour a bottle of red wine on any guest who arrives wearing white.

“So let’s just avoid that,” she adds.

No wedding crashers were allowed as she limited guests to exactly how many people can accompany them.

“Don’t bring random people to my wedding.”

In another instance, a bride-to-be was slammed for ranting on social media about not wanting her fiancé’s toddler at their wedding.

“How do I tell my fiancé I don't want his daughter at our wedding? I put 'no kids' on the invites so I thought he'd get the point, but he keeps mentioning her being there,” she says.

“She's three. I am marrying him not his crotch goblin. That's his mistake not mine. I don't want her there because she's needy as f*** and makes everything about her and I said no f***ing kids.”

Another bridezilla came under fire for asking her guests to purchase wedding gifts that cost no less than R5 000.

“So we’re all aware that my wedding is coming up in October. To all those coming to my wedding, there is a list of gifts that you can bring. You must choose from the list or consult me first. There are no exceptions,” she says on social media.

“Any KitchenAid appliances must be over $350 (R5 250). This doesn’t mean regular kitchen items such as an apron or spatula. I’m talking about their stand mixer, blender, etc.

“Any Gucci or Louis Vuitton purses. Other purses are allowed but please consult me first. Any clothes over $400 (R6 000) from Calvin Klein, Moschino or Nora’s,” she continues.
