Her life took a tragic turn when she turned 11 and lost her sight, but this Benoni woman hasn't let it prevent her from taking to deep-sea diving like a duck to water.

Jessica Pita (20) recently made a splash when she became South Africa's first blind adaptive scuba diver.

To become accredited by the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI), Jessica, who is legally blind, completed an adaptive scuba diving course at the Reef Divers training centre in Pretoria before plunging into the Indian Ocean in Mozambique as part of a practical exam.
