In her cute, pink swimming costume with her hair in a ponytail, Charnice Crous looks like any other toddler keen to build sand castles on the beach.

This little girl from Worcester in the Western Cape is only three years old but she's been in and out of hospital since birth and carries a heavy burden on her little shoulders.

"Her muscles were very weak and she missed many of her developmental milestones. She struggled to sit and also started to develop tremors," says her mom, Bernice Crous.
