There's much more to sugar making things sweet – just ask Zenaéca Singh from Port Shepstone in KwaZulu-Natal, who's using the sweet treat to create sculptures and paintings. 

Zenaéca (23) will be showcasing her artwork at the 11th Investec Cape Town Art Fair from 16-18 February. 

Speaking to YOU from her studio at the Michaelis School of Fine Art at the University of Cape Town, she explains that her exhibition at the art fair "is a wonderful opportunity because my artwork speaks about my heritage, history and identity as a descendant of indentured workers in South Africa, so I'm hoping my work will educate, create conversation and awareness".
