So there we were, trying to get our heads around the latest “new normal”. No more face masks, no more restrictions on gatherings, no need to show vaccine passports or negative tests when travelling – things were going well.
South Africa had exited the fifth wave of Covid-19 without the chaos and fear of the previous waves and we could all pretty much get back to the way things were before March 2020.
And then what happened? Monkeypox arrived.
