His football kit has the name of his hero, Ronaldo No 7, emblazoned on the back.

With all the force he possesses, the feisty little boy boots the ball to the imaginary goalpost in the garden, screaming “goal” as he fist-pumps the air and sinks to his knees.

It’s only when he gets up that you notice he’s not like most other football-loving kids: he has a shoelift on his right cleat to prevent him from limping.
