The home gym in Crown Gardens, Johannesburg South, is crammed with dumbbells, weightlifting belts, barbells and bars and the walls are filled floor to ceiling with certificates, trophies and medals. There’s hardly any space left for more – but Lizette and Kobus Bester disagree. 

The father-daughter powerlifting duo are determined to add to their collection when they head to Manchester in the United Kingdom to compete at the World Powerlifting Championships from 31 October to 5 November.
