This elderly man was found dead with his head in a rubbish bin the day before he’d would have turned 80.
Jose Maria San Martin from Madrid, Spain, was checking whether he’d put his rubbish in the correct bin when he suffered a heart attack.
According to local media, he’d put out the rubbish hours earlier but realised he placed one of the bags in the wrong bin and went back to move it, against the wishes of his wife Josefa.
A neighbour found Jose Maria with his head in a communal bin and quickly called the police.
Josefa noticed her husband was taking longer than usual and went downstairs to find the police surrounding his lifeless body.
The police officers asked her to bring her husband’s identity documents.
After examining the documents, they confirmed it was her husband who’d been found dead.
Forensic tests revealed the 79-year-old died of a heart attack.
Josefa revealed her husband was grieving the loss of their grandson, Victor, who died after an alleged drunk driver crashed into his vehicle on 19 September.
Months later Victor’s brother died too, leaving the elderly couple mourning the death of two of their grandchildren.
