A puff of air, a sliced cucumber and an angry face spewing a bleeped-out expletive. Those are just some of the Duchess of Cambridge’s favourite emojis.
During her latest Early Years video, Kate accidentally revealed some of her most-used emoji icons – and they aren’t what you might expect.
The duchess was seen showing her iPhone 10 during a four-minute Q&A session about her campaign for greater action to help children under the age of five.
In the video shared on the Kensington Royal Instagram account, she thanked the 12,1 million followers for sending in their questions “with wonderful emojis attached to them” before showing her phone to the camera, inadvertently revealing a few of her favorite emojis.
The duchess’ most-used or at least most recently used emojis include a pineapple, two girls holding hands, a woman bowing and a purple alien monster. The most surprising inclusions however were the angry, swearing face and the vomiting face. Not something you’d expect from the usually cautious Kate.
Kate, who’s long been an advocate for mental health, launched Early Years – her first solo initiative – in 2018 with a group of children’s development experts, focusing on addressing the emotional and mental wellness of children as well as the future of early childhood development in the UK.
“I suppose we’re looking at it from pregnancy through the age of five, so through to children starting school . . . This isn’t just about happy, healthy children. This is about the society I hope we could and can become,” the duchess replied when asked about the project.
“She’s really been enjoying the Early Years work and has found her stride and purpose. She sees this work as a life-long commitment and she has worked really hard on this campaign,” a source close to the duchess told Vanity Fair in May this year.
One of the questions the mom-of-three received was, “How do you manage temper tantrums in your household?” To which Kate replied, “Yes, that’s a hard one,” before laughing and adding, “I’d also like to ask the experts myself.”
Looking at the diverse and unexpected selection of her most recently used emojis, there could of course be a very simple explanation: Prince George (7), Princess Charlotte (5) and Prince Louis (2), could have had access to their mum’s phone. Sounds familiar right?
