She lost almost half her body weight in a bid to make lasting memories with her dying husband.

Taylor Carrington tipped the scale at 127 kg when her husband Rick was diagnosed with a glioblastoma – a malignant brain tumour that can’t be cured, according to Web MD. Rick was given just 15 months to live.

"For the first couple of months it was really numbing,” Taylor told Mirror News. “I got a reality check and decided to make the best experiences I can in however much time we have left.”

She admits to using food as a coping mechanism throughout her life but knew she had to be at her physical best if she were to make the most of the limited time she has with her terminally-ill husband.

"I was always overweight, growing up I made bad food choices and while I was active, I didn't put a lot of energy into it,” Taylor says.

The 24-year-old, who’s from Seattle, US, went from eating takeaways and sweet treats to a strict diet after having weight-loss surgery last year.

"After our wedding, I thought about what I could do to get happy and healthy for him, I made the decision to have weight loss surgery,” she says.

After her health-meal planning and a daily exercise routine with her husband the brunette lost a staggering 63 kg.

Eager to show off her new fit physique, Taylor now struts her stuff in an itsy-bitsy two-piece bikini on the beach.

"Recently on the beach I was wearing a two-piece and didn't care about what anybody thought, before I never thought I would ever be able to do that,” she says.

Taylor says that they’ve been making the most of their time together by visiting Disneyland, going on hikes, walking on the beach and trying out different markets – something she wouldn’t have been able to do if she was still overweight.

She admits the news about her husband’s illness was devastating but vows to help him fight. Taylor is thankful as Rick helped motivate and inspire her weight loss.

"Ricky is very supportive, where some partners can struggle when their partner loses a lot of weight mine has been incredible.

"He compliments my body, tells me I'm beautiful and loves my confidence, he can see how happy I am and I love hearing the complements about how thin I am now,” she says
