We’re not all born to be home executives – some have to learn.

Sometimes we give up trying to get things right or we just haven't found the right way to do them.

Truth is that technique and tools are all you need to accomplish household tasks that seem labour intensive or trivial. Here’s our list of things you get wrong:

Chopping onions

The tears are never far away when it comes to this meal foundation, but you may just be missing a key tool in your kitchen drawer. According to Good Housekeeping, using your vegetable peeler to shave slices of onion can help to speed up the chopping process and spare your eyes the tears.

Dishwashing liquid

Stop using dishwashing liquid for everything. While it’s a powerful grease removing product, dishwashing liquid may leave behind streaks on items which aren’t kitchenware. Opt for other products, like vinegar or bicarb, which are environmentally friendly, to clean windows, mirrors and other greasy household items.

The last bit of toothpaste

Squeezing the last bit of toothpaste out of the tube with your bare hands, really isn’t the best way to do things, Cosmopolitan reports. Try using a bobby pin, or hair grip, to slide the excess toothpaste out of the tube.

Folding a fitted sheet

This one has baffled many a mom for years, and sometimes it just never really folds into a perfect rectangle. Well, TikTok user Bubtea1 has got you sorted, with a step- by-step guide and the simplest hack to fold fitted sheets to perfection.

Check out her simple solution:

Putting on the duvet cover

Often we suffer in silence and alone trying to cover a duvet, but not to worry Bubtea1 has you sorted on this one as well. She demonstrates a simple and easy way to get that cover on, without climbing into it with the duvet.
