Set the mood

What’s a spa day without tranquil music to help you zone out, right?

Create a playlist with all your favourite tunes to help you relax and switch off all other devices and gadgets to avoid distractions.

And remember to light a few scented candles to engage all your senses.

Refresh your face

Get rid of that tired look by preparing a simple cucumber mask to leave your skin feeling refreshed and hydrated.

30ml (2T) apple cider vinegar

15ml (1T) chopped cucumber

15ml (1T) honey

5ml (1t) ground cinnamon

5ml (1t) bicarbonate of soda

Combine all the ingredients in a blender to form a smooth paste. Apply to your skin, massaging in circular, upward motions. Rinse off after 2-3 minutes with cool water and pat dry for a dewy glow.

Try a little TLC on your hair

The protein and biotin from eggs combined with the potassium and natural oils from bananas will restore nourishment and work wonders on limp hair.

 2 egg whites

1 ripe banana

250ml (1c) milk

15ml (1T) olive oil

Combine all the ingredients in a blender to form a smooth paste. Apply the mask to your hair and leave it on for at least 30 minutes then wash it out with your usual shampoo.

Buff your body with a scrub

Sugar is a wonderful exfoliator as it’s gentle enough not to cause irritation yet coarse enough to get rid of dead skin cells.

Mix 125ml (½c) brown sugar with 125ml (½c) coconut oil to form a coarse paste. While in the shower, massage the mixture all over your body then rinse off with warm water for silky-soft, radiant-looking skin.

Treat your feet

A great way to revive tired feet is with a peppermint foot scrub. Peppermint oil helps to relieve aches and pains and acts as an antiseptic, while olive oil softens and moisturises.

 250ml (1c) Epsom salts

15ml (1T) olive oil

30ml (2T) coconut oil

5 drops peppermint oil

60ml (¼c) crushed dried peppermint leaves

Mix the ingredients well. Soak your feet for 10 minutes in a tub of warm water, then gently rub the scrub onto your skin until you feel a tingle from the peppermint. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
