Is it ok to wear white at a wedding?

accreditation
Let's face it: when a celebrity sneezes, trend watchers catch a cold; so when a new style emerges, it doesn't take long for the rest of the world to adapt and accept it as common practice.

But, just because it seems to be the start of an "in" thing, doesn't mean it should be, right?

Take Lindsey Lohan and Pippa Middleton.

Both of them recently wore white to weddings; Pippa at William and Kate's nuptials and Linsday at Kim Kardashian's wedding.

According to celebrity wedding planner, Mindy Weiss, apparently Kim and Kris specifically requested that their guests wear either black or white.

I suppose worrying about whether you'll be outshined is an irrelevant point when you're a celebrity who has access to designers such as Vera Wang. Either Kim is seriously into colour co-ordination or she's just that confident.

We certainly admit that Lindsey looked surprisingly lovely, but when we think of how Pippa almost upstaged Kate in her gorgeous frock, we can't help but think that nothing says "I want to steal your thunder" like wearing white/ivory/cream  dress to your friend/sister's wedding.

Of course, the difference between Lindsay and Pippa  (besides the class factor), is that they had two different roles in the respective weddings attended.  Lindsay was merely a guest, while Pippa shone in the role of head bridesmaid.

It seems that as long as you form part of the bridal procession, wearing white doesn't seem to be such a taboo, but when you're a guest? We’ve decided it’s definitely a big no.

Why don't you tell us what you think?

Would you wear white to a friend's wedding, even if she did give permission for you to do so?
