Love letter to my body...

accreditation
Meagan Karstens wrote a touching letter to her body. A reader, in turn, wrote her own:

Dear Body of mine,

Where do I begin? Well let me start by saying just how proud I am that we have chosen each other. For the past 30 years you not only have seen me through the toughest times, you have been there with me when no-one else would appreciate me.

Thank you for the way in which you never judge me and always allow me to just feel. There are a few things I simply love about you and feel you absolutely need to know. From the top of my very curly hair to the bottom of my size 4 feet, you have been there supporting me. Thank you for allowing me to indulge in all that we have been advised against through out both of my pregnancies. I am amazed at the flexibility and strength you have in the toughest of times, in allowing me to give birth naturally both times.

Thank you for my big brown eyes and long lashes that most women would love to have, i simply adore them. For my small ears who misses nothing, even that which is not meant for my ears :-)

For my hands that allow me to hold, comfort and uphold all those around me. For my strong and squared shoulders - for the comfort it gives to many. For my wonderful and different size breasts (thanks to the breastfeeding), for without them will my babies not be well fed and my husband not be well entertained. For giving me back my size 32 after both pregnancies, I truly am amazed.

For the stretch marks that show the path from which we have travelled. The proof that we have seen many things and experienced many many exciting things.

I love that you can stand firm..not only literally but figuratively as well. For without that strength of these wonderful legs of mine would I have crumpled under many stresses and situations. Now I stand tall. Even though I may be no taller than a 13 year old young person.

I especially thank you for not succumbing to certain trends and always letting it be known that under no circumstances will we subject ourselves to those fabulous stilleto's and taking care of the most important part of the body - the feet. The part that carries the rest of me, the entire being.

So from Me to you - my wonderful, ever changing, precious body - thank you and much respect, love and honour. Three cheers to you !!!

Hip Hip Hooray !!

Your ever faithful mind and heart

Danielle
