Boots and all!

accreditation

What womans' wardrobe is complete without the perfect pair of boots? Winter is the only time when we can go boots galore, so I hope you are all taking advantage.

This season's winter wear is all about adventure, with countless layers and styles to play with. Choose your shoes with care – they're the finishing touch for your outfit.

If you are torn between your ankle boots and your knee highs, here is some advice...

Ankle Boots: These have fashionista written all over them. However, they are a bit tricky to pull off if you don't have a Kate Moss body (tall and slim). A boot with a heel will give any woman length and elongate their legs. This is why if you're short, ankle boots with heels will work best. Try to avoid boots which end under the ankle because they will make your leg look shorter and chopped. If you have slim calves and ankles, try wearing boots which are tight-fitted to these areas. If you are curvaceousl wear pointed-toe ankle boots, they are best to create the illusion of a long line. Match this with an A-line skirt which ends just above the knee and you have a winner.

Knee high boots: Unlike ankle boots you don’t need to have to be a Kate Moss look alike to pull off knee highs… The problem here is just deciding how to wear them depending on your leg shape. If you have larger legs, stretch boots are best. They are fitted to your leg and will slim them down. If you prefer a leather pair avoid the bulky ones and look for those that fit tightly to your calves, not too tight or they will look too small. Also chunky heels will make legs look slimmer. Thinner legs means skinny ankles, so if you have you mould prefer more structure to your boot and definitely some bulk. Although the boot itself should be a bit bulky the heel should be slender (bulky heels make you look even thinner).

Over the knee boots: It's hard to pull off over the knee boots without looking like Julia Roberts from Pretty Woman... Avoid over the knee boots with high heels! Choose what you wear with it carefully. You don’t want to be cut in half, you want to create a long silhouette. What you wear should flow and be unbroken. A pair of skinny jeans or tights would work best. Continue the long silhouette with long jackets that cover your behind. Keep your clothing and tights neutral. Finally add texture like suede or knit instead of colour.

Peep toe boots: When I first saw peep toe boots I was a bit afraid but this stylish boot has won me over. Firstly look for a peep toe that is not too widely cut, otherwise it just looks like a boot that got too small and your toes popped out. Choose those that have a small peep, these would work better for cold days as well. Peep toes are already a trend and if you follow the rules of ankle or knee high you cannot go wrong with these. It is an elegant look for a sophisticated day at the office or a stylish night out. Lace-up boots are my favourite. Those peep toes without laces are great as well. How you choose between the two will depend on the look you want to achieve. A lace up boot is perfect with a skinny and any trendy top – this boot is stylish. Peep toes without laces will help you achieve a more classic look. Either way peep toes are a must have this winter.
