The first time I passed my learner's license, I was stoked. My then-boyfriend congratulated me and asked me: "So, shouldn't you start driving lessons now?"
"Erm… I will… Soon," I mumbled under my breath.
That was three years ago. Of course, at the beginning of this year, I found myself in the never-ending series of queues, whiling away the hours with a novel whilst grinding my teeth and waiting to set my second appointment to rewrite my learner's license test.
I should have listened to that man.
This time, at least I had a plan of action. I had studied. I passed. And I had savings. Because, dammit, I refuse to write that stupid test again.
Immediately after I was handed that bit of paper, I walked outside the traffic department, bought a beer and Googled driving schools in Cape Town.
