When it comes to finding fun things to do in our free time, South Africans really don’t have a right to complain.
I mean think about it… We live in a country where every possible element of nature is practically right on our doorsteps. There’s oceans, rivers, dams, mountains, trees and plenty of fresh air. The options – I shouldn’t have to remind you - are really actually endless, and more so, if you use a bit of imagination.
Take Hot Air Ballooning, for example. I bet you probably thought they only do this in the movies, right? Wrong!
A little birdie whispered that the Magaliesberg mountain range (which is really beautiful too) is the perfect place for this, and the De Hoek Country House has set aside a whole weekend specifically for those eager beavers wanting to experience this activity.
How it works:
Balloon pilots will be on hand to brief guests on the ins and outs of hot air ballooning, and while you wait for the inflatables to fire up, you can enjoy a cup of coffee and homemade rusks. What’s not to love, I ask?
Then, when your hour of ballooning is over, the hotel chefs will be waiting to serve up a sumptuous meal for you. The rest of Saturday morning is at leisure, giving guests the opportunity to explore the hamlet of Magaliesburg with its eclectic arts and craft offerings.
The weekend of 14 – 16 December has been set aside for De Hoek Country House’s annual Ballooning adventure weekend, in conjunction with Air Ventures Hot Air Ballooning. To book or make an enquiry, call 014 577 9600 or email reservations@dehoek.com.
Would you ever try Hot Air Ballooning?
