As the celebrations of our 30 years of democracy continue and as we prepare to vote for the seventh administration on 29 May, it is clear that our country has made steady progress in achieving the vision of the charter and other advocacy programmes for gender equality by promoting women’s full participation in political processes and deepening the participation of women in the economy.
While it is encouraging to see our rainbow nation at the forefront of some positive developments in the women's empowerment arena, more needs to be done.
If we are to realise real gender equality on all fronts, including cultural, social, political, economic, business and educational, we must pull together as a national collective.
