'Never fit for purpose': Why business wants government to rework its energy plan

Government needs to go back to the drawing board and rework the draft Integrated Resources Plan (IRP) of 2023, according to business and other key stakeholders.

The draft energy plan was released earlier in January for public comment. It drew strong criticism given its lack of detail, especially when it comes to understanding the assumptions government used for its modelling, News24 previously reported.

The IRP is meant to guide how energy demand is to be met with a range of generation technologies in the coming years.
