I'm astounded by the number of "fashion" shoots that feature little or no clothing. When I page through a glossy these days, I can barely tell the difference between a fashion spread and a Playboy spread.
Now, I know that the female figure is beautiful and we can sit and admire it for days, but surely if I'm buying a style publication, I want to see stuff I can wear? I want to see the creations that designers have visualised? I'm starting to feel like models go to shoots knowing that they will probably have to wear three items of clothing for a 10-page spread.
The good news is that fuller-figured models are getting more work (Yay!). It might even be considered a positive thing that plus-sized women are photographed in exactly the same way as their skinnier counterparts, i.e. wearing nothing but accessories – a necklace and heels in the case of Candice Huffine's spread for S Moda. But I'm not entirely sure I like it.
I guess I can't really complain that the industry is discriminating in this regard, right?
I'm just desperate to see more clothing in these spreads. After all, it's a fashion spread.
