When Kobus Swart, 42, decided to marry his girlfriend, he knew a conventional proposal would not fly. 

"Zesta is sharp, she'd know the engagement was happening as soon as you told her to dress up nicely, so we plotted a surprise inside Pick n Pay," Swart said. 

Swart was speaking after he successfully surprised his girlfriend of nine months with a proposal while she was doing a grocery run.
