1. Congratulations on your new skin care collection, what inspired you in developing this range?

Thank you so much. My earliest memories of skincare routines are categorised by images of my mother mixing our body lotion with glycerin. Growing up with dry skin and knowing that the products that could have helped me then were always too expensive. I wanted to change this for parents and kids by creating a range of products that were affordable and were premium quality to keep women and men moisturized, looking and feeling confident in your own skin.

2) Why did you want the range to focus on hydration specifically? Is it something you saw as a need for yourself and South African women?

A lot of the time we overlook climate and lifestyle as factors that should influence our buying decisions. Often without the knowledge of what our skin needs and the expensive products currently available on the market, many people fall victim to getting products that aren't made to nourish their skin. I personally suffer from very dry skin and I remember my struggle growing up. Having done my research I realized that I wasn't alone and that a gap existed for a local product to give women the confidence and nourishment they need for their different skin types and tested in our climate.

3) The product range is very reasonable, why was this important to you?

In the current economy every cent counts. We are always looking for value for money. It was also important for me to make this brand for everyone. We did not compromise quality for affordability, which is a financial risk, but one I was very happy to take.

4) Your career has flourished in entertainment, lifestyle and sports. What made you want to go into the beauty world?

I've been surrounded by the beauty industry for as long as I've been on tv. From makeup to my day to day skincare routine. In my business, my skin is everything and over the years there have been countless queries about what I use. I realized what I was using was unattainable to the average consumer and I wanted to create a product that could bridge that gap.

5) What is your go-to trick for combatting dry, cracking skin in winter?

That's easy, get yourself the Cocoa Crystal variant. We designed this product specifically for very dry skin and my favorite thing is that it’s moisturizing without being sticky. No more mixing.

The MD by Minnie Dlamini range is made up of three variants – Cocoa Crystal, Rose Quartz and Tropical Topaz. Cocoa Crystal is made for very dry skin, leaves skin feeling smooth. Rose Quartz is formulated with rose water, hydrates skin and restores suppleness. Tropical Topaz is a delectably fruity fragrance which nourishes skin giving it a healthy glow.

MD by Minnie Dlamini is currently available at Clicks stores in Durban, Cape Town and Johannesburg and are priced between R15.00 and R39.00
