His voice is a far cry from the potent one we've come to know and love on eTV's Isitha: The Enemy. He tells us he's just woken up, which is why his voice is sounding cranky.

Throughout the years, actor Zamani Mbatha has made a name for himself in showbiz. When he joined The Black Door as Khaya, aka Gandaganda - who was a sex worker, he amassed more fans.

But, now that the story has continued in Isitha, the actor tells TRUELOVE that he will be leaving the telenovela at the end of season one.

"I have other plans in life and I don't believe in staying in one place. I'm deciding to take a break to focus on my growth," he says.

The heartthrob says he doesn't like staying in the same place for too long because "I believe in doing more and in improving myself."

"As an artist, I believe in not doing something for too long. I've been doing telenovelas for two years now and I think it's time to move on. I have something coming up, which is exciting and I hope it will be as exciting for my fans as well."

He leaves his character having been a victim of infidelity thanks to his unfaithful partner. But it turns out life would imitate art in the strangest way.

Being in the spotlight has had its drawbacks for Zamani. In 2023, he was implicated in a cheating scandal by his former girlfriend leading to him being the subject of much social media gossip. However, this is a subject he doesn't want to delve into, saying it’s a personal matter.

"I don't like talking about that because it's way too personal. I try as best as I can to live my life in a way that pleases me because it's not easy being a public figure," Zamani says.
