A bride was left horrified when a woman dressed as her husband’s “crazy ex-girlfriend” burst into their reception screaming: “Stop the wedding, it should have been me.”

Stacey Owen (29), from Aberdare in Wales, got the shock of her life when a woman she didn’t know turned up to her wedding wearing a white bridal gown, Sun UK reports.

The newlyweds were on the dance floor when the woman ran into the room and started hitting the groom on the head with a bouquet of flowers, yelling “it should have been me”.

Within seconds, however, Stacey realised the whole thing was a prank set up by her maid of honour, identified only as Jackie, Mirror UK reports.

The “crazy ex” was actually Welsh comedian January Rees, who Jackie convinced to gatecrash the wedding.

"I managed to persuade Jan to take part, it could have gone drastically wrong. We were planning it for four to five months," Jackie said.

"Stacey expected some sort of surprise and I just wanted to do something silly. I was searching for ideas online when I came across videos of drag queens going down the aisle which gave me this idea."

Stacey admitted that she was surprised when the comedian came barging onto the dance floor.

"I thought, 'what is going on', as we’d just done our first dance. At first, the lights were dim and I couldn't see her face so I thought it was one of his nutty exes,” she said.

"But when the lights came up, I could see Jan's face and I knew who she was then. My partner was terrified at first."

The 29-year-old said the incident would always be remembered by guests at the wedding.

"We did see the funny side, the performance has had everyone talking.”
