How did you achieve Bonnie’s cover look?
Step 1: Prep the skin
I prepared her skin extensively by using a lot of rose water and the Avène Thermal Spring Water.
Step 2: Apply concealer and foundation
I applied concealer under the eye, just to make the eyes pop and ensure a flawless finish. I then applied two foundations, namely liquid and mineral foundations, to make the skin is even and fresh.
Step 3: Apply eyeshadow
The eye palette I used for the eyes was neutral. I used gold, brown and copper shades. I contoured the eye with the copper and highlighted it with gold. On the cheeks, I used the gold bronzer to give her a smooth finish. What was the inspiration behind Bonnies look?I wanted to give her the sun-kissed look so I used neutral shades, which is why her face looks so smooth on the cover. The only colour that you can pick up is the black gel liner, used to define the eyes, and a hint of pink on the lips, which is neutral and matches her skin tone perfectly. So the colour pattern is just neutral tone and sun-kissed – I wanted to give Bonnie a glow inspired by the popular JLo glow. I also wanted it to be a whimsical look but still strong because Bonnie is a strong woman. I accentuated her features while making sure she’s still feminine, gorgeous and quirky. Your dos and don’ts when applying make-up?- Refrain from applying a lot of foundation. Ensure that the foundation has SPF.
Which products do you recommend for spring and summer?
I vouch for the Avène Thermal Spring Water to soften up your face. You can apply it before or after applying your make-up. Your make-up won’t smudge and it refreshes your look during the day, which is a must now that the temperatures have gone up.
Matte is so overdone. Dewy lips are the ‘it’ thing. A dewy lip is a combination between gloss and matte. Alternatively, go for a lipstick that is moisturizing.
