“Sindi is a name that rolls out of my mouth quite often, and mostly between the cracks of my smile. It’s impossible to leave her presence without a giggle or a laugh. In the year that I’ve known her (which honestly feels way longer), she’s filled my days with so much love and unwavering sisterhood. She’ll support me whether I try a diet or when I eat badly (sitting there eating with me, then sharing the guilt with me). I’m grateful for what she’s done for me as a young woman in the industry, opening up her heart and allowing me into her nest when I started on The River. That’s who she is to most of us. I hope that her infectious spirit and dance moves will soon rub off on me.”

“Sindi is my big sister and best friend. We always joke about how God almost created her for the second time when He made me. The truth is, she’s been such an amazing role model to me that I’ve watched so closely since my childhood. I have constantly applied her teachings in my life. Thank you for being authentically yourself and for sharing your talents with all of us, which includes your famous pantsula dance moves. Don’t show them to the world yet, though, we will not survive the Black Twitter memes that will stem from that!”

“I met Sindi when I was 16, in Durban, during a stage production called The Game. She thought I was a baby — she still calls me ‘nana’ to this day — and treated me like a fragile little thing. She’s been overprotective since. One of the first things that amazed me about her, was when I found out that she’s scared of the dark and sleeping alone [chuckles]! So, during the show, we shared a bed for a month! A very gentle person with a heart of gold, she gave me tips when I auditioned for Muvhango, which I still hold dear to this day. She’s always been a big sister to me and we’ve gotten so close that we sometimes both forget that we’re not blood relatives.”
