Woman resigns from her job to become a professional mermaid

Jasmine Seals, a funeral director from Basingstoke, England, would often become emotional because she found it difficult to deal with grieving families, Metro reports.

The 28-year-old then quit her job to pursue her dream of becoming a mermaid.

“I’ll do it until it puts me in a wheelchair,” Jasmine explained about her newfound passion.

She trains twice a week and can now hold her breath for about two minutes and 35 seconds.

“When training, you have to learn how to control your breathing and your heart rate to be able to perform underwater for prolonged periods of time,” she added.

“So strange seeing me in these colours! New training tail looking forward to the next session on Friday night,” she captioned a post on Instagram of herself taken underwater.

The professional mermaid, who dresses in dragon skin platinum silicon mermaid tails and bejewelled bras, charges up to £100 (R1 860) an hour for her services when she’s performing at parties or events.

Jasmine’s career choice isn’t a new phenomenon. In fact it’s become quite popular, particularly in the UK where pageants such as Miss Mermaid UK are hosted, BBC reported.
