Usually coincidences occur when one has just wished, thought and had a conversation regarding an event that later occurs in the same order as it was imagined.

According to Cambridge Dictionary, the word coincidence means, an occasion when two or more similar things happen at the same time, especially in a way that is unlikely and surprising.

While most do believe in coincidences, many are skeptics.

"Many believe that fate or mystery, or the Universe or God, causes coincidences. Their faith in something Greater provides them with a cause. Since God causes them, the cause is known. Therefore, there are no coincidences," Bernard Beitman on Psychology today.

Analyst, Mike Smith took to Quora to share a heart-warming story about how he and his fiancé Mariah met at a coffee shop, lost contact and then two coincidences occurred that brought them together.

"I went into a local coffee shop to buy a coffee and was greeted by the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. Mariah was very friendly and I could tell she liked me. Over the course of six months I continued to go into the same coffee shop and buy a coffee, just to see her and talk. Even though I saw her regularly, I never asked her out during this time because I thought it would be rude to ask someone out at their place of work," Mike says.

One day Mike went to the coffee and was greeted by sad news, Mariah told him that she's quitting.

"I was at a loss of words and thought I should tell her how I feel, but I didn’t. She left and I didn’t even have her number. I continued to go to the coffee shop, but not as much since I really didn’t have a reason to anymore and there were closer coffee shops. Getting coffee just wasn’t the same. I always had a pit in my stomach because I felt like I would never see Mariah again," Mike says.

A beautiful coincidence occurred when Mike returned to the coffee shop eight months later.

"I went in the coffee shop to get a coffee and was completely surprised when I saw her behind the counter. She saw me and immediately lit up and ran over to the register. It happened to be her very first day back. This time, before I left, I asked her if I could give my number to her. We went out that night and hit it off," says Mike.

While the pair were on their first date, Mike mentioned an Italian restaurant, that he likes going to because it is a walking distance for him.

Then the couple realised another coincidence when Mariah shared that she stays behind the restaurant, making her place and Mike's, two houses apart. Mariah had lived there for the last past three years and the two of them are now engaged.
