Here’s how to make your exercise routine Earth-friendly. Yes really!

When it comes to exercising many of us often depend on the use of electricity hungry gyms, automotive transportation and high tech gear to get us closer to our weight loss and fitness goals.

South Africa celebrates Earth Hour on Saturday, 29 March and outdoor fitness programme for women, Adventure Boot Camp, has come up with 5 tips to being more eco-friendly within your exercise routine.

1. Join an outdoor fitness or training programme

Adventure Boot camp not only offers fun and invigorating outdoor exercise programmes for woman of all shapes and sizes, but they care about the environment too!

In celebration of Earth hour they will be hosting a FREE ladies only boot camp class on Saturday 29th March  2014 from 08.30am – 10.00am at Pinelands High School in Forest Drive, Pinelands in Cape Town

2. Make use of recyclable or reusable water bottles

According to Urban Earth more than 234000 tons of plastic was recycled in South Africa in 2011 with figures from the last two years more or less remaining the same.

That amounts to only 18.9% of plastic recycled in the country – So do more for your planet by purchasing a reusable water bottle for your work out.

3. Use eco-friendly towels

Buying eco-friendly towels are an easy way to do your part.

Towels including bamboo, organic cotton and hemp don’t require the use of harmful pesticides. They are made from sustainable fibres and are often quick drying.

4. Walk or Bike to work

It’s easy to hop into the car and drive to work especially when rushed! But when possible save some money and walk or bike to work. The fresh air definitely beats sitting in traffic!

5. Make use of eco-friendly products

There are so many products out there that are better for our planet. When next searching for a new yoga mat, gym clothing or even just a washing powder try and look out for Eco-friendly options.
