Beauty Juice

Hi girls

Can you believe its 20-bloody-10 already? Here's hoping you all had a beautiful break and didn't put your skin through too much of a fry up. (By now you should all know there's nothing sexy about sun damage!)

Anyway, now that Christmas is over, I don't feel obliged to behave anymore. (I had to be a good girl for Mr Claus, you see...) Now, however, I think, it's the perfect time to be a little "naughty" and spill a bit o' insider beauty dirt. (Leigh rubs her hands together with wickedness...) You see, over the last month or so, I've been privy to a bit of juicy information regarding a couple of super-exciting goodies that are set to hit the shelves later on this year. Of what I've seen, heard about, fiddled with and sniffed, these are what I'm most excited about...

First off, if your crow's feet are driving you crazy, you might want to hold off on those needles until May. This is when you can get your mitts on le über-fabulous Estee Lauder Perfectionist (CP+) Targeted Deep Wrinkle Filler, R435. Much like a glamtastic polyfilla, all you need to do is squeeze it into your craggy bits so as to fill them up with the product's "advanced volumising spheres". Then, with continued use over time, your skin begins to plump itself up from within, thanks to the sphere being made up of collagen-restoring hyaluronic acid.  However, thanks to an optical blend of photo-blurring pigments, the area you blitz looks completely flawless from the moment you slap this baby on. Seriously girls, I used it to fill up a super-deep "life line" in my hand and couldn't believe how the bugger just up and disappeared. Love, love, love!

Another beauty gem to look forward too is Clarins Wonder Perfect Mascara, R215, due out next month. It promises to volumise, lengthen and curl. They're also launching a new long-wearing foundation, Clarins Everlasting Foundation SPF15, R395 in May. It offers medium to full coverage and claims to adhere to your skin for a whopping fifteen hours! Despite its crazy-long wear time, it promises to keep your skin looking just as dewy and fresh-looking as the moment you put it on with a little help from mega-moisturising, time-released plant extracts. It's also got a "light optimizing complex", meaning it diffuses light to help blur the appearance of fine lines and imperfections. When testing it on my skin, I was tres impressed by how it managed to provide such fantastic coverage yet have such an incredibly weightless, smooth texture. A real winner that you simply have to try!

Now, regarding this goodie, I don't have a date or price just yet, but can tell you this: If you're keen on Elizabeth Arden's Prevage Anti-Aging Treatment, you'll be glad to know they'll soon be bringing a day cream to the SA market, Prevage Day Ultra Protection Anti-aging Moisturizer SPF 30 PA++. Now you can get the fantastic benefits of super-antioxidant idebenone as well as superior sun protection!

Fragrance-wise, it doesn't look like the celebrity perfume trend is anywhere close to dying off. In fact, just a few star scents you can expect to see out early this year include Kim Kardashian's Kim Kardashian, Eva Longoria's Eva and the most anticipated of the lot, Beyonce's Heat. Rihanna, Kanye West, Fergie and Shakira will also be launching fragrances later in the year, but they're still too early in development to be given names.

Last, but not least, next month Revlon will release a new illuminating foundation, Revlon PhotoReady Makeup, R185. I got to take a sneak peak at it during the brand's end-of-year do and can tell you that its texture and light-bending finish is simply divine. (Revlon have always been something of a "foundation groundbreaker" ever since they hit it out of the park with ColorStay...) So, if you're a fan of über-luxe illuminating foundations like Chanel Vitalumiere and Lancôme Photogenic Lumessence foundation, Revlon's new luminiser will be a fantastic recessionista alternative.

And on that note, does anyone else have a wallet that's crying after Christmas? Are any of you daring to switch from salon highlights to box dye a la Dischem? If you've got any post-holiday beauty tips, please leave them in the comments section! It may well be an evil, credit-crushing Jan, but a girl's still gotta shake her tail feather!

Love, love
Leigh
