This rap line by rising star rapper Dee Koala sums up perfectly what is on the social media agenda in fashion. The line from the viral remix of the uTatakho single meets the fashion industry’s latest memes of the more than oversized bags.
The three-image collage that has spread far and wide on Twitter as a meme includes street style stars fashion consultant Loulou De Saison, carrying the Khaite caramel leather bag, author and blogger Olivia Lopez, in an oversized embossed Nanushka tote bag, and magazine stylist Tine Andrea sporting a woven leather Bottega Veneta bag.

This resurgence of the designer handbag memes are a reminder of the polar opposite Jacquemeus’ nano handbags that went viral, partly responsible for the memes was Twitter user Alia Link who asked: What can you fit in these?

This time, the bags going viral are quite frankly the opposite of the memes of what has been now dubbed “The Smallest Bag” – in pretty much every way. Having gone viral in largely earth tones – in contrast of the shocking pink of the initial Jacquemeus bag meme – and carrying much more contents, ranging from audacity to dating standards – reaching the other end of the spectrum of the teeny tiny bags that “carried” people’s patience and budgets.
In the midst of this wildly encouraged fashion humour, some optimists are hoping the trend of the super-sized bag will encourage a trend of practicality with handbags that have enough space to carry around our entire lives, just like how it used to be once upon a time.
Whether or not this utopia for the big big bag will be achieved, it is a great joke in the meantime:

Unlike the Jacquemeus bags which went viral off of the French brands Instagram account’s quirky aesthetic, these extra-large bags are actually a work of a skilled graphic designer from Milan.
Under the Instagram account, Leomie Anderson, the handbag obsessed graphic designer has even absurdly modified images beyond street style, featuring star fashion influencers such as:
Aimee Song
Bryan Boy
Famed photographer Tamu McPherson
Victoria Secret Angel Leomie Anderson
However, the Big Bag Club is not the first or its kind, and will likely not be the last. These are the other digitally modifying parody account the online fashion community enjoys:
Freddie Smithson
Freddie is a London-based art director that started one of fashion’s internationally celebrated parody accounts. Freddie is known for the witty use of words and imagery, and famous for super-imposing prominent figures faces on bodies of fashionable stars.

The individual behind this Instagram is account is reportedly a Hawaii-based teenager called May. According to Nylon Magazine, May creates the genius content for this page in between her school life. May’s work is highly recognisable by the exaggerated inflation of clothing items of fashion stars and entertainers – and sometimes shrinking them.

This account by its founder called Sidney has a known signature of superimposing famous photographs of prominent people, mostly from fashion and Hollywood stars, on ordinary looking backgrounds.
