Defender Dillan Solomons has provided his assessment of some of the reasons behind Kaizer Chiefs’ troubles in front of goal as Amakhosi aim to end a goal drought against SuperSport United.

The Soweto giants have had a dreadful time in front of goal, scoring just five times in their last 10 league matches.

These results have seen them collect just two wins from their last 10 league matches, one of their poorest runs of form since the inception of the PSL.

Speaking to the media ahead of Amakhosi’s clash with Matsatsantsa on Saturday, Solomons explained why he believes a lack of confidence may be the culprit.

"I think it’s just confidence," Solomons told journalists on Thursday.

"Confidence does a great deal for you. If you’re confident you score anything. Anything will go in for you.

"I think that’s been lacking with our strikers, but it obviously goes with pressure.

"There is a lot of pressure on you as a striker here, you’re the main guy. You are the guy that has to get us goals and I think that can also play a big part in having a mental block or not scoring.

"But I think confidence plays a big part in big up there and scoring the goals for us."

Among the men expected to find the goals, Ranga Chivaviro has scored just twice for Chiefs since his high-profile arrival, and Christian Saile has scored three goals in his second season with Amakhosi.

Pule Mmodi has fared slightly better, scoring four times for Chiefs while Ashley du Preez and Edson Castillo have each scored five times. Jasond Gonzalez is yet to find the back of the net.
