In the video Hader is seen lip-synching and dancing to songs while fully clothed. The gestures and dance moves she makes in the clips seem to relate to the lyrics and do not appear to be obviously ‘indecent’.

In May, social media star Mawada Eladhm was also arrested on charges of promoting immorality. The arrest followed two similar cases against belly dancer Sama al-Masry and student Haneen Hossam. The arrests are reportedly part of a crackdown on “inappropriate” social media content by the Interior Ministry.

Meanwhile, prosecutors in the governorate of Al Qalyubia arrested the family of TikTok performer Manar Sami for four days. According to Egypt Independent, the influencer’s father and brothers assaulted police officers during a court session where Sami was remanded in custody over publishing indecent content on TikTok.

The influencer received an extra 15 days in a pre-trial detention centre as the investigation continues.
