Egyptian police have reportedly arrested social media user Hader al-Hady for posting ‘indecent’ content on TikTok despite her appearing to bop and lip-synch fully-clothed to her favourite songs.
Officers of the Giza Security Directorate took her in on charges of publishing indecent content and videos on TikTok on 5 July 2020.
The police have referred the case to the public prosecutor’s office for further investigation, according to online news site Egypt Independent.

In the video Hader is seen lip-synching and dancing to songs while fully clothed. The gestures and dance moves she makes in the clips seem to relate to the lyrics and do not appear to be obviously ‘indecent’.

Meanwhile, prosecutors in the governorate of Al Qalyubia arrested the family of TikTok performer Manar Sami for four days. According to Egypt Independent, the influencer’s father and brothers assaulted police officers during a court session where Sami was remanded in custody over publishing indecent content on TikTok.
The influencer received an extra 15 days in a pre-trial detention centre as the investigation continues.
