Actor Reine Swart (Z Nation) makes her directorial debut with the horror drama Her Mask which will premiere on M-Net Magic Movies 2 (DStv 106) on Thursday 29 October 2020 at 21:30.

Part of the "Edge of your seat movies" slate, the film promises to keep audiences exactly there with its clever plot and scary approach.

The film centres on a grieving British girl who tries to unravel her murdered mother's secrets that are connected to South Africa. Hoping to put an end to this haunting hex, she travels to South Africa, but instead of finding closure, it casts her deeper into sinister depths.

It stars Mari Molefe van Heerden (7de Laan), Coco Lloyd (X Factor), Hungani Ndlovu (Scandal), Christopher Jaftha (Top Billing), Stephanie Sandows (Isidingo), Mary-anne Barlow (Legacy), Juanita de Villiers (Getroud met Rugby), Andre Velts (Knysna) and Christel van den Bergh (Vuil Wasgoed).

"We thought about the concept 'everyone wears a mask' in 2019. Little did we know that everyone was literally going to wear masks in 2020. It has been a daunting year, to say the least. For the film Her Mask, the mask is a symbol that everyone wears a mask in one way or another," says Reine.

The film has been acquired for international distribution by Paris based sales agents, Reel Suspects and by Cleopatra Entertainment for a December 2020 release in North America.

"It is wonderful when films like ours get to travel the world and be seen by international audiences, but I am thrilled that Her Mask will have its premiere here at home in South Africa" added Reine.
