  • We all know that when you're a wedding guest, you can't wear white.
  • However, director Olivia Wilde broke two style rules when she attended her friends' wedding and set the internet off.
  • Now, she's explaining why she made the decision, but people are still saying it's rude.

Look, everyone knows the two wedding style rules about what not to wear at a wedding as a guest and they are: "Never ever wear white", and "Never ever wear a bridal gown", even if the couple approves.

This may sound extra or a little bit crazy but think of it this way, anytime you watch a romcom and a wedding guest walks in wearing the brightest red colour anyone has ever seen, you know that she is most definitely the one to cause drama at that wedding.

So, in essence what you wear to a wedding is quite important and this rule applies to celebrities as well. The internet freaked out because Olivia Wilde wore a white wedding gown to a wedding that wasn't hers and now she's explaining why she did.

Jordan C. Brown and Colton Underwood tied the knot on 13 May in Napa Valley, California and their celebrity friend Wilde wore an actual white wedding gown. She then took to Instagram to post a story that she captioned: "Wore a wedding dress to a wedding, just so I could make a joke about it".

This did not sit well with some people on the internet as the actress and director did in fact break two wedding style rules. The Don't Worry Darling director also added that her outfit wasn't a mistake or rude but that the newlyweds actually approved it.

"The grooms approved," she said in another post that included herself with the couple as they embraced each other. Despite her clarification, the internet still didn't approve of her move with one saying: "You're still not supposed to wear white or let alone a bridal gown to a wedding. It doesn't matter that they're two grooms, it's drawing attention away from the couple and putting it on yourself".

Another also added: "Even if you're making a joke about yourself during a toast at someone else's wedding. It's still downright rude. It's not your wedding".
