  • A Quora user shared details of a wedding that got cancelled just weeks before it was due to take place.
  • Regardless, the bride did end up getting married, but not to her original groom. It was the would-be-best man who stole her heart.
  • And the groom also found love in the arms of the would-be maid-of-honour.
  • Here are the details as shared on Quora.

Quora user shared how John* and Sarah's* wedding, which they were invited to got cancelled two to three weeks before the big day.

"I was invited to a wedding of a colleague about 15 years ago. Without warning, the wedding was cancelled 2-3 weeks before it happened. Not postponed, cancelled," shares the user.

It was the bride who cancelled the wedding as she had fallen in love with the best man.

"Turns out, she fell in love with him after getting engaged to my colleague. It was reciprocated, so she called off the wedding because it would not be fair to the first guy," shared the user.

Sarah and the best man did end up getting married.

In a bizarre twist of fate, soon after the wedding was cancelled, John also fell in love with Sarah's friend, who was meant to be the maid of honour at his original wedding.

The two also got married a year after getting involved.

"Over a decade later, both couples are still married, mostly happily from what I can see, and they are still socializing, even going on vacations, all 4 of them (with kids)," says the user.

"I still haven't decided if this is all an epic fail, or an epic win. The first, cancelled wedding is a huge fail no matter how you see it."

Despite the initial cancelled wedding, one user responded to the post, saying, "Better to cancel a wedding at the last minute than to have to go through a divorce later."

For others, the story brought up memories of weddings they had been to too. One such user said, "It reminds me of a guy I used to work with who had been married to sisters and had kids with both of them."
